Multimedia can be defined as a combination of various types of media, including sound, animation, video and graphics. The multimedia project is usually delivered through an interface or menu of options or links. Therefore, interaction by the end-user is just as important as the project's content.
I found an interesting site that defines authoring as:
"AUTHORING" here refers to "programming by non-programmers."
Also the Multimedia Authoring site claims to be "a resource collection of pointers to Internet sites for those that develop or 'author' multimedia."
I think the key word is "non-programmer" because in this course we will be exploring the front-end of multimedia authoring, allowing the software to do the programming necessary to create, deliver, or publish multimedia.
